PLAY Chair Bar Height 75 cm
PLAY Bar Chair
Designed by: Bruunmunch & Claus Simonsen
Bar and counter chair in luxurious leather
The PLAY Bar Chair takes the comfort and elegance of our iconic PLAYchair into new heights. With a seat height of 75 cm, it is the perfect match for bar tables and high counters – making it an ideal choice for both modern kitchens with elevated counters and stylish bar areas. Where the PLAY Counter Chair (65 cm) suits counters of 90–95 cm, the PLAY Bar Chair fits seamlessly with table heights of 105–110 cm.
Each chair is upholstered by skilled craftsmen who carefully hand-select and cut the finest leather for a flawless finish. The sculpted shell is crafted from 12 mm FSC® certified beech veneer and padded with 20 mm Oeko-Tex® certified cold-cured foam, offering superior seating comfort. The protected leather is smooth with a subtle texture, while also water-repellent, dirt-resistant, stain-resistant, and easy to maintain – perfect for everyday use.
The 16 mm powder-coated steel tube frame gives the chair both strength and elegance. Combined with the contoured, upholstered veneer shell, the PLAY Bar Chair creates a modern and timeless silhouette that feels equally at home in private kitchens, stylish dining areas, or bar interiors.
Designed with comfort and durability in mind, the PLAY Bar Chair offers a supportive, inviting seat that encourages long conversations, whether you are enjoying a morning coffee at your high kitchen counter or entertaining guests around a bar table.
Sustainability
The PLAY Bar Chair is made using FSC® certified beech veneer and Oeko-Tex® certified foam and leather, ensuring a sustainable and responsible choice without compromising on quality or design.
Packaging
To reduce environmental impact, the PLAY Bar Chair is packed two chairs per box. All packaging is, of course, made from FSC® certified paper.
As a natural material, leather requires looking after. If you care for the leather in the right way, it will become even more beautiful over time.
The care and maintenance of leather will always depend on the specific way in which it is used, the conditions of use and how often it is used.
Basic Leather
Vacuum clean once or twice a month with a soft brush to remove any dust. Once or twice a year for thorough cleaning, use the foam from soap flakes stirred in warm water. Apply the foam with a dry soft cloth, minimising any contact with water. Avoid bar soap, saddle soap, leather cleaners, household detergents or chemical products. Protect from direct sunlight, excessive heat and sharp objects.
Basic Measurements
Width: 45 cm

Where Nordic Minimalism Meets the World of Bjarke Ingels — The PLAYbar Chair
The PLAYbar Chair stands at the intersection of Scandinavian minimalism and the bold architectural universe shaped by star architect Bjarke Ingels. It’s a piece designed not to shout, but to speak confidently — with clarity, comfort, and a sense of balance that mirrors the spatial elegance found in contemporary landmark architecture.
Defined by a wide, generously padded seat, a curved backrest that offers subtle support, and an integrated footrest for lasting comfort, PLAYbar brings ergonomic intelligence into a visually refined form. It is created to support long evenings, shared meals, and everyday moments with ease.
The shell is constructed from 12 mm FSC-certified beech veneer and upholstered with 20 mm Oeko-Tex certified cold cured foam. Covered in Oeko-Tex certified protected leather, the surface is soft yet durable, water- and stain-resistant, and easy to care for — making it ideal for both private and public settings.
Its 16 mm powder-coated steel frame lends the chair an architectural lightness, while offering strength and stability. At a bar height of 75 cm, PLAYbar fits naturally into elevated spaces — from modern kitchen islands to dynamic hospitality interiors.
Already in use at Restaurant Plates in Esbjerg, the PLAYbar Chair complements an interior where curated dining and thoughtful design go hand in hand. Here, the chair becomes more than seating — it becomes part of the built environment.
For those who appreciate materials that matter, proportions that feel right, and design that quietly aligns with the spirit of today’s architectural icons, PLAYbar delivers. It’s furniture with presence — shaped by craftsmanship, defined by space.
